Air traffic management

In the Air Traffic Management field, Sofréavia experts intervene throughout the ATM products and infrastructure lifecycle, from R&D and future concepts elaboration phases to systems implementation and staff training phases.

Sofréavia involvement in Air Traffic Management began in 1991 with the creation of the Air Traffic Management Business Unit, in order to support Air Traffic Management developments world-wide. Besides the traditional consulting and engineering services this division carries out studies related to research and development in this field, such as the harmonisation and integration of future ATM systems in Europe, future ATC position studies and prototypes, ATN studies and experimentation, etc. The division is involved in most of major European Research and Development programmes and studies for the European Union Commission and the EUROCONTROL Agency and it is recognized as a leading member of several European consortia.

Development of specific systems dedicated to air traffic control, communications and training, customisation to our clients’ needs and local issues, are other of the Company’s major ATM activities. This activity is a result of continuous co-operation with French Civil Aviation Administration (DGAC), the Department of Technology and Innovation (DTI) within the Air Navigation Services Department (DSNA) and industrial partners. Consequently most of the systems were first installed in France and their development is based on a large experience of French ATC providers, and on the very complete tests in the operating conditions. It enables Sofréavia to offer reliable and proven systems which are in full compliance with the latest ICAO recommendations and standards.
